TL;DR

  • New patent filings show a premium OnePlus phone.
  • Accompanying drawings show an alert slider and periscope camera.
  • Earlier leaks point to a OnePlus 10 Ultra being in the works.

Rumors of a OnePlus 10 Ultra have persisted for a few months now, suggesting that OnePlus is working on an ultra-premium flagship to take the fight to the Galaxy S22 Ultra and other pricey flagships.

Now, it seems like OnePlus has submitted a patent filing for a premium device to China’s CNIPA patent authority. The patent, spotted by IT Home, also includes a variety of drawings. Check them out below.

The images show a phone with a similar rear camera bump design as the OnePlus 10 Pro, spilling off the back and onto the edge. However, it also looks like the phone is equipped with a periscope camera, given the rectangular cutout below the two circular lenses.

The drawings also seem to show an alert slider, perhaps indicating that this is a premium flagship. After all, rumors pointed to OnePlus ditching the alert slider for all but its premium flagships, while leaked OnePlus 10T renders don’t show the slider either.

So does this mean it’s the OnePlus 10 Ultra, then? Well, patent filings aren’t usually indicative of an imminent commercial product, so we wouldn’t bet on these drawings depicting the OnePlus 10 Ultra. Nevertheless, it certainly looks like the company is thinking about a premium flagship phone.
