Haryana: Work education instructors’ demands go unheard, police arrest peaceful demonstrators – Times of India

CHANDIGARH: The work education instructors, who were going to protest peacefully in front of the Shiksha Sadan, were on Monday forcefully taken into custody by police. They were taken to Yamunanagar road and released at an unknown location. During this action, health of a female instructor worsened on the way.
Work Education Instructors, working in various government schools of Haryana since August 2014 under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (Samagra Shiksha), were protesting behind Shiksha Sadan, Sector-5 Panchkula since June 22 demanding to be covered in the Council’s By Laws 2013. They are in music, singing, tabla, fine art, drama and dance categories. From August 2, four protesters went on a fast unto death.
Taking notice of the protest, Rajesh Khullar, ACS, considered the demands and assured a quick solution. On this, the fast unto death ended. But nothing happened further.
Distressed, the Work Education Instructors decided to get their heads shaved in front of Shiksha Sadan on 28th August. When they came out for the demonstration, the police arrested them and made them sit in the bus and left them on the way to Yamuna Nagar. Sangeeta of Hisar fell ill on the way.
Rajat Bhatt, president of Work Education Instructors Association said that the administration is not allowing us to present our demands to the Chief Minister.
“Where will we go if the government also ignores us like this? Now anger is increasing among work education instructors. If any untoward incident happens to any of our partners the education department will be fully responsible for it. We want that like other employees of Samrag Shiksha, Work Education Instructors should also be given By Laws 2013 and grade pay” he said
Rajat Bhatt from Kurukshetra, Deep Kumar from Panipat, Sangeeta Devi from Hisar, Sunil Kumar from Jind, Sunil Kumar from Sirsa, Paramjit Mann from Ambala along with other colleagues were also present on this occasion.
Sangeeta Devi from Hisar had to get Mam admitted to the Community Health Center, Mullana, due to ill health on the way during the protest.
