Haryana schools short of 38,000 teachers, admits minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar – Times of India
According to information, there are 38,476 vacancies for teaching posts, which include 15,265 postgraduate teachers, (PGT) 18,236 trained graduate teachers (TGTs), 1,046 head masters/mistresses and 3,929 posts of junior basic teachers (JBTs).
On the other hand, 2,000 posts of non-teaching staff are also vacant, which include 663 chowkidars, 579 malis and 732 posts of sanitary workers. All this came to light when minister Gujjar laid the details on the floor of the house in response to the question by independent MLA Balraj Kundu during the question hour.
Gujjar also informed about the requisition of 3646 PGT, 3033 TGT , 952 primary teachers for Mewat cadre has been sent to Haryana Staff Selection Commission
Kundu had sought the details of vacancies in government schools and the plan of action by the Haryana government. “ For the past many years, we had been hearing about claims of improvements in the education system. But it seems we are the worst of the states. We are not able to give even basic education in Haryana,’’ MLA Kundu said.
There are around 25,000 government and private schools in the state, which include 14491 government and 10460 private school. There are 2159 government run senior secondary, 137 Sanskriti Senior Model Schools, 1037 High School, 2416 Middle school, 7252 ;primary schools, 1420 Sanskriti Primary Schools, 36 Aroho Schools and 22 Kasturba Gandhi Girls Schools.
