Harry Styles could save the day at Glastonbury 2023 after Arctic Monkeys news

This morning thousands of punters began their pilgrimage to Glastonbury Festival 2023.

But while all the excited music lovers venture to Worthy Farm for the festivities beginning this Friday, there is a lot of fear about the first night’s headliner, Arctic Monkeys.

The Sheffield rockers are currently on tour promoting their new album, The Car, but disaster struck singer Alex Turner earlier this week.

The band released a statement that confirmed they had to pull out of a show in Dublin just days before Glastonbury kicks off, as the singer was suffering “acute laryngitis”. Of course, fears have now begun to swell over whether Arctic Monkeys will be able to play the esteemed festival.

Thankfully, many eagle-eyed fans believe Harry Styles could be the perfect replacement for the band.

Harry is currently on his extensive Love On Tour in the UK.

He recently played four massive sold-out shows at Wembley Stadium, and is due to hit Cardiff’s Principality Stadium today and tomorrow, Thursday.

After that, the former One Direction star will be in Werchter, Belgium, on Saturday evening. But his Friday is notably clear.

This means, if Arctic Monkeys were to pull out of Glastonbury Festival this week, Harry could certainly fit the Friday night headlining slot into his extremely busy schedule.

And fans are hoping this is exactly what happens.

One wrote: “Only two hours drive from Glasto. He is the perfect replacement,” referencing the distance between Cardiff and Glastonbury.

Another fan agreed: “Harry Styles for Glasto if they [Arctic Monkeys] pull out.”

Of course, the band have not yet pulled out of the slot. But their recently released statement did not sound promising.

Posting on their social media accounts, they said: “We are extremely sorry to announce the cancellation of Arctic Monkeys’ show at Marlay Park in Dublin Tomorrow. Alex is suffering from acute laryngitis, and following medical advice, has been ordered to rest. Alex and the band apologise for the huge disappointment this will inevitably cause to all their Irish fans.”

They added: “Full refunds will be credited back to the ticket purchaser’s account by Ticketmaster within the next six working days.”
