Emerson Royal says he wants to play alongside Harry Kane ‘for a long time’ amid reports he will leave Tottenham this summer.

Spurs have endured one of the worst seasons in their recent history, finishing eighth in the Premier League meaning they will miss out on European football for the first time in 13 years.

It’s chaos off the pitch also with the club no closer to appointing Antonio Conte’s permanent successor, with multiple managers rejecting Daniel Levy’s advances.

Though times have been testing, Kane has maintained his status as one of, if not the best striker in the world with 32 goals in 49 games across all competitions.

Additionally, this past season saw the 29-year-old become both Tottenham and England’s all-time top goal scorer and move into second place for all-time Premier League goals, with Alan Shearer’s record now firmly in his sights.

However, he is still yet to win a major trophy and with Spurs going backwards many believe he will seek a move away from north London this summer, and though his boyhood club don’t want to lose their star striker this is their last chance to cash-in on Kane as his contract expires in 2024.

Tottenham right-back Emerson is among those at the club who want Kane to stay, telling Sky Sports: ‘He’s top for me, No.1 in his position.

‘I’m so happy for him. I want to play with him for a long time!’

Manchester United are the team most heavily linked with signing Kane, with Erik ten Hag desperate to sign an elite No.9 and they would be willing to pay his reported valuation of around £100m.

But the latest speculation suggests that Levy will not sell his star player no matter what or at the very least he will not sell to a Premier League rival.

For his part, Kane has continually played down the transfer talk. After last Sunday’s win at Leeds he was asked about the speculation over his future and told BT Sport: ‘That’s part and parcel of being a footballer – especially when you’re at the top of your game.

‘I’ve just been focusing on this season and trying to help the team as much as possible.

‘To score a couple today was nice, to finish that way, but all in all I’m just looking forward to a nice break and then a couple of games with England.’
