Harry and Meghan set to return for Queen’s Jubilee celebrations

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their children are set to return to the UK to attend the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. However it may not be the welcome they would like as they have been omitted from the Trooping the Colour balcony appearance by the Queen.

Harry and Meghan confirmed today (Friday May 6) that they were “excited and honoured” to attend the commemorations for the monarch’s milestone in June. They also confirmed that they are with their eldest child Archie and his sister Lilibet.

However the Queen has limited the Trooping the Colour balcony appearance to working members of her family. That means that the Duke of York and Harry and Meghan will miss out on the moment.

At the moment it is not known which elements of the four-day Jubilee weekend Harry and Meghan will make an appearance at. A spokeswoman for the couple said: “Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are excited and honoured to attend The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this June with their children.”

The weekend will be the first time that Harry and Meghan have brought their family to the UK since leaving for the US. It will be extra special as Lili’s first birthday falls during the Jubilee weekend on June 4.

She is yet to meet the Queen, the Prince of Wales and other members of the Royal family. The Queen’s decision to only include working members of the Royal family on the balcony was taken “after careful consideration”, Buckingham Palace said.

However the move is set to be seen as a snub towards Harry and Meghan. The pair stepped away from Royal duties and left for the US two years ago.
