Happy Monday’s star Bez ‘gutted’ after testing positive for Covid-19

TV show Dancing On Ice is facing chaos due to Coronavirus again this year, as contestant Bez is temporarily pulled from the show after catching coronavirus.

The Happy Monday’s musician, from Manchester, took to the ice for the first time yesterday evening in the first show of the series.

However just a day later, it has been announced that he has been forced into isolation after catching Covid-19.

The 57-year-old is partnered with reigning skating champion Angela Egaown and is expected to make a return to TV screens on January 30, for week three’s show.

Bandmate Rowetta shared a message from Bez on Twitter this evening, where he said he was ‘gutted’ to be missing training.

“I’ve had a positive test,” Bez confirmed.

“I’m gutted because I’m going to be missing training but I’m looking forward to skating on the show again for week three and I’ll be tuning at home and cheering on my mates who are skating this weekend.”

An ITV spokesperson said: “We have stringent protocols in place to ensure the health and safety of all our contributors and staff which are routinely monitored and updated to reflect the current guidelines.”

The Happy Monday’s star came out bottom of the leader board in Sunday’s opening show.

After completing his routine, Bez told the judges he was wearing protective clothing from head to toe and was the first contestant to take to the ice in a helmet.
