Happy Mondays’ Bez slams Manchester’s huge potholes ‘like canyons’
HAPPY Mondays star Bez has slammed the massive potholes on one of Manchester’s busiest streets.
Princess Parkway is travelled on by thousands everyday and has huge holes which are “like canyons”, according to the DJ.
For motorists using the dual carriageway, the potholes cover the road heading in both directions – and it’s a state.
Bez, 58, – well-known for his band’s song lyric “twisting my melon, man”- told the MEN: “You go down Princess Parkway, they’re like canyons.
“They’re beyond potholes.”
On some stretches of the road, the central lane lines have even eroded away.
However local council bosses have said they’re safe to travel on.
Despite being hesitant to carry out roadworks on the major route, Manchester City Council said plans are in place for January next year.
“The Council is aware of the current degradation on parts of Princess Road, with plans in place for the road to be repaired in January 2023, subject to suitable weather conditions,” the spokesperson said.
“While the road has visually deteriorated the Council would like to reassure motorists that it is still structurally safe and will continue to be monitored up to the time of its repair.
“Given this is a key arterial route in and out of Manchester the Council will aim to begin the works during a time when disruption can be minimised.
“The Council will set out a more detailed timeframe for repairs to the road in the New Year.”
Maracas-shaker Bez married at the start of this month to girlfriend Firouzeh Razavi, who is 19 years his junior.
Bez and Firouzeh — known as Frou — were dressed all in white as they wed at a local church.
