Hammers fans celebrate European glory in east London
Hammers star Jarrod Bowen netted a last-minute winner to seal victory over Italian side Fiorentina and clinch the Europa Conference League trophy.
It was the club’s first major title since winning the FA Cup back in 1980 and fans gathered outside the club’s home ground in Stratford to revel in the achievement.
Jubilant supporters were also pictured at screenings of the match at LDN East in Canning Town, and at a fan zone in The Orbit courtyard at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The match itself provided a rollercoaster of emotions for Hammers fans, with Said Benrahma putting the side ahead with a penalty midway through the second half.
The match appeared to be heading for extra time after Fiorentina equalised, before Bowen wrote his name in the club’s history books with his late goal.
He described the strike as “the best feeling of my career”.
“The fans as well, seeing them after the game I was a bit lost for words,” he added.
“It’s the best feeling of my life, never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d win a European trophy.”
