Haley Lu Richardson opens up about stalking her ‘White Lotus’ co-star Aubrey Plaza
Aubrey Plaza’s charisma affects everyone, even her co-stars.
Haley Lu Richardson, one of the main cast members of “The White Lotus,” went on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and detailed how much she admires her co-star Aubrey Plaza, saying she even “stalked” the “Parks and Rec” actress.
Richardson, who was asked by Kimmel if she knew any of her co-stars before they began filming season two of the hit HBO show, revealed she had met Plaza before the show under some unusual circumstances.
“I know she has a lot of crazed fans, but I’m like one of the top three,” the “Split” actress told Kimmel.
“I legitimately stalked her. Like, I didn’t just stalk her on social media. I showed up to places I was not invited, knowing she was there.”
Richardson, 27, explained how she got close to Plaza’s cousins and friends, hoping she would be “invited” into the “Legion” stars life.
The Phoenix, Arizona native sarcastically explained, “it worked” now that she’s starring alongside Plaza.
Richardson says that Plaza’s cousins got her into her private birthday party one year. A small, invite-only party comprised of close friends and family.
In typical Plaza fashion, Richardson described the brief encounter they shared while she was in attendance. “She saw me from across the bar and just went ‘you’ and walked away.”
“It was the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” the “Unpregnant” star told Kimmel to a laughing audience.
After Richardson found out that she would be staring in “The White Lotus,” she got a text from an unknown number that was “literally, just a knife and a drip of blood,” and knew right away it was Plaza welcoming her on board.
Richardson, who has been acting since 2012, has received much praise this season for her portrayal of Portia, the assistant of an emotionally insecure boss, Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge).
Season two of the anthology series “The White Lotus,” which takes place in Sicily, was released on HBO on Oct. 30 and will have its season finally this coming Sunday.
The show’s creator and director, Mike White, found instant success during its first season, taking home the most awards at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards last year, winning ten, including an Emmy for outstanding writing and directing.
