Gwen Stefani wiped away her tears during on an appearance on The One Show on Monday night after being surprised with a video message from her musical inspiration.
The Sweet Escape singer, 53, joined the flagship BBC One programme ahead of her concerts in London’s Hyde Park this weekend.
During her appearance, presenters Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas presented Gwen with a personalised video from Pauline Black of The Selecter, an artist who she claims heavily influenced her musical career.
In the clip, Pauline, 69, said: ‘I’m absolutely thrilled that I’ve influenced you and your music. Sending you lots of love my dear.’
Gwen was in bits after watching Pauline’s heartfelt message. ‘I’m crying right now,’ she admitted. ‘Zoom in now because these are real tears. I can’t believe that. That’s incredible.’
‘She was my idol when I was like 13 and she just talked to me!’
Gwen is gearing up to appear as a special guest at Pink’s BST Hyde Park shows in London this coming weekend, alongside Tinashe, Lyra, and others.
Last month, Gwen’s husband Blake Sheraton was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the category of recording.
During the ceremony, she described her other half as a ‘country music jukebox’ and ‘the most generous person you’ll ever know’.
‘It blows my mind to be here today, standing on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, celebrating my husband,’ she said while addressing the crowd.
Addressing Blake directly, she continued: ‘Blake, you are a rare human being and for all the success that you’ve had in your life as a singer, a songwriter, a musician, a performer, an entertainer, an actor… he’s the same guy today as he was back then, a country guy with a love for country music.
‘He’s magnetic, the most generous person you’ll ever know. And always just him, no matter where he goes.
‘The reason, Blake Shelton, you are here today on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is because you are part of the country dream, the Hollywood dream, and you are part of the American dream.
‘And everybody knows you’re my dream come true.’
