Guv hails NEP 2020 as a policy that aims to bring every girl child to the forefront of the world of knowledge – Times of India

TIRUPATI: Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan hailed the national education policy (NEP 2020) as a policy which is aligned with the promotion of gender parity and its primary objective is to bring every girl child to the forefront of the world of knowledge.
Delivering his address as the chancellor of Sri Padmavati Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV) at its 19th and 20th Convocation held in Tirupati on Friday, he appreciated the university for proactively responding to the challenges and demonstrating its commitment to training girl students with ‘future-ready skills’.
The Governor underlined that the NEP 2020 was a shift enabled after 34 years to transform the educational sector is providing equal educational opportunities for girls as well as special concern groups like transgender community.

The Chancellor also expressed happiness on SPMVV retaining its rank band of 151-200 under university category in the national institutional ranking framework (NIRF) and the 42nd rank in pharmacy category for the year 2021-22.
Mr. Harichandan later conferred honorary doctorate on noted classical danseuse and a Padma Sree’ awardee Gaddam Padmaja Reddy.
Delivering the convocation address, Ms. Reddy asked the students not to confine themselves to the classrooms and instead nurture their god-given talent. “Pursue your passion and take it higher, not for the sake of money, but to derive the purpose of life”, was her tip.
In her annual report, Vice-Chancellor Jamuna Duvvuru placed on record the creation of an entrepreneurial ecosystem on campus by modifying the academic programs in compliance with NEP 2020. She recalled the varsity’s excellent strides made in the fields of high-end research, publications and social outreach activities.
In all, 1902 candidates received their degrees and doctorates on the occasion, including Amuktamalyada Sushama, a resident of Sultanate of Oman and recipient of Ph.D. in Music, who happened to be the first to receive a doctorate under NRI category.
