Gurukuls in Haryana will now be affiliated with School Education Board – EM – Times of India

Chandigarh: In a significant development, Haryana School Education Minister, Kanwar Pal Gujjar on Tuesday announced a pivotal change in the affiliation of Gurukuls within the state. Previously associated with state universities, Gurukuls in Haryana will now be affiliated with the School Education Board, offering students equal opportunities for higher education, akin to the students of general schools. He directed officers to draft a policy in this regard at the earliest.
The Minister met with representatives from 25 Gurukuls located across the state, expressing gratitude for the presence of a significant number of Gurukuls in Haryana, which follows the traditional (Sanskritik) methods of education.
During discussions with Gurukul representatives, various demands and concerns were raised, and Gujjar assured them of prompt resolution. He specifically noted that Gurukuls established prior to 2003 should be seamlessly integrated into the U-Dise code system via the MIS portal. The Minister instructed senior officers from the School Education Department to schedule a meeting with a delegation on the upcoming Monday to address pending issues.
In the course of the meeting, officials updated the Minister on the progress of the ‘My Tree-My Number’ tree plantation scheme, indicating that Haryana schools had achieved a 95% completion rate. He instructed them to ensure the target was fully met by the first week of October. He also directed officials to revise the norms governing the Consolidated Children’s Welfare Fund (CCWF) to better align with the present demand of schools.
In addition,Gujjar l directed the officers to ensure proper arrangement of books so that new admissions from class 1 to 8 should receive their complete set of books on the first day of school. No laxity in this regard will be tolerated.
Meeting was attended by the Additional Chief Secretary, School Education Department Sudhir Rajpal, Director Secondary Education,. Anshaj Singh, Director Elementary Education Dr. Rippudaman Singh Dhillon, Chairman, Board of School Education, Haryana, VP Yadav besides other senior officers.
