Guns N’ Roses kicked off their highly-anticipated headline slot on Glastonbury’s mainstage in style.

The performance was the US rock band’s debut at Worthy Farm and featured the original line-up of Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan – who reunited in 2015.

The crowd included fans dressed in Slash’s trademark top hat, dark glasses, and long black hair wigs.

The band first launched into It’s So Easy from their album Appetite For Destruction.

Without saying a word, the band then rolled into Bad Obsession, with Rose and Slash strolling around the stage to gee up the crowds.

‘How you doing?’, Rose asked crowds after the song finished.

‘We’d like to thank you for inviting us – thank you.’

Guns N’ Roses then struck up a rendition of Chinese Democracy, with Slash swapping to a horned green guitar, and followed up with Slither.

The band then ramped up the tempo with an explosive performance of 1987 hit Welcome To The Jungle.

The Crowd exploded as Slash struck up the famous opening riff; later the 57-year-old jumped off a stage block shredding his strings furiously.

Switching up the lyrics, Rose sang: ‘Do you know where you are? You’re in the jungle, Glastonbury!’

Some fans were left disappointed when one famous musician failed to make an appearance, despite the band teasing that he might.

‘We’re helping a certain individual celebrate the 50th anniversary of this song,’ the band said ahead of Live And Let Die.

The song was written by Sir Paul McCartney and released by Wings in 1973 as part of the soundtrack for the James Bond film of the same name.

And with Sir Paul in the wings at several shows this weekend, it wasn’t unreasonable for people to expect a cameo from him.

Alas, he didn’t show.

One person who did show, though, was Dave Grohl.

After appearing with Foo Fighters yesterday and also surprising The Pretenders fans this weekend, he appeared once more to close the set.

Introducing Grohl, Axl declared: ‘There’s no such a thing as two many f****** guitars.’

The band launched into an explosive performance of Paradise City, after which they bowed and Slash performed a handstand as he exited the stage.
