Greatest on-screen motors of all time… from Del Boy’s van to 007’s Aston Martin
THE van in Only Fools and Horses has been voted the world’s greatest on-screen vehicle.
Del Boy and Rodney’s tatty, yellow three-wheeled Reliant beat a string of much-loved TV and movie motors.
One of the yellow three-wheelers in the much-loved TV series sold for £38,000 at an auction in 2021.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang from the 1968 classic and the time-travelling DeLorean from 1985 flick Back to the Future were joint second.
James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5, which first appeared in 1964’s Goldfinger, came fourth.
KITT, the talking car from 1980s and ’90s TV series Knight Rider, was fifth.
Herbie, the VW Beetle in the 1977 movie Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo, came sixth.
Even The Inbetweeners’ clapped-out Fiat Cinquecento made the top ten.
Aidan Rushby, from car financing app Carmoola which carried out the poll, said: “On-screen cars have stolen our hearts as much as the characters.”
