Great grills Dog over ’embarrassing’ drinking
Essendon great Matthew Lloyd has ripped Western Bulldogs swingman Zaine Cordy after he was photographed being heavily intoxicated in the team’s ‘Mad Monday’ celebrations.
After the Bulldogs’ season came to an end last Saturday against Fremantle, the players reconvened on Monday to have the traditional post-season drinks, but Cordy was left looking worse for wear.
One picture showed the 25-year-old in a drunken state sitting on a pavement with his back against the outside wall of a bar, while another showed him being carried by two teammates.

The photos did not sit well with Lloyd, who said being drunk to such a state was not acceptable, even at an end of season event.
“I hated this from the Mad Monday at the Western Bulldogs. This is a horrible look for any league footballer,” he told Nine’s Footy Classified.
“I’ll ask Zaine, Would you ever see your captain in this state? Would you ever see Pendlebury, Lachie Neale, all the great players, Petracca Oliver (like this)?

“That’s embarrassing, absolutely embarrassing for a league footballer to be in that state even at end of season drinks.
“Be in control. Imagine you’re a young first-year player looking at that? He’s been in the system for nearly 10 years.”
