Graeme Souness turns down new job following emotional exit from Sky Sports
GRAEME SOUNESS has pulled the plug on a sentimental return to his former club Rangers.
The ex-Ibrox player and manager was asked to take on an ambassadorial role by the Glasgow giants in talks that have lasted for weeks.
However, Souness, 70, has decided against the move.
Souey, no longer a TV pundit on Sky Sports, did not feel he would be able to help at the Gers.
In April, he announced he would be leaving his role as a pundit at Sky after 15 years.
In his emotional announcement, he fought backs tears as he declared: “I’m going to miss you guys, the guys behind the scenes, our makeup girl, I’ll miss you all.
“You know, for me, I decided that football management wasn’t for me anymore. I had the wrong temperament for it, the wrong personality.
“And then I was given the opportunity to do this and it’s been magnificent. It’s just been the most fantastic time for me, because I love football, I care about football and I worry about it going forward.
“But in Sky’s hands, it’s in good hands, safe hands, and I think over the years we’ve created a Premier League with great detail and I think we look after football very well.
“But for me personally, I’ve got the buzz of live football coming to some fantastic games and some fantastic stadiums and some great events.

“I think I owe 100 apologies to people, but we haven’t got time for that… but it’s been great so thank you to everyone.”
Since then, Souness has recreated one of his most controversial career moments after returning to Galatasaray as he planted a flag in the centre of their home ground after a 3-0 win over Fenerbahce.
He has also been doing his bit for charity, completing a gruelling fundraiser swim in the English channel to raise £1million for Debra, a charity that helps people suffering with skin disorder Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).
