Govt excellence school principal writes to collector, says he cannot work as a puppet – Times of India

RAIPUR: Driven to desperation by alleged interference by outsiders in the school affairs, a Swami Atmanand Government Excellence (English Medium) School (SAGES) principal from Chhattisgarh’s Surajpur district has written to the district collector, who is also the president of these schools in respective districts, to end his deputation and sent him back to his parent department.
Yadwendra Dubey, who is on deputation as the principal of SAGES, Bhuwaneshwarpur, Ramanuj Nagar development block, Surajpur, has informed the collector Effat Ara through the DEO that he cannot continue in the school citing several reasons.

“It is against my principles to work as a puppet. I am not even able to exercise my power as principal to stop indiscipline acts being committed by the staff in the school. Despite several complaints, no action is being taken against the influential anti-social elements outside the school threatening me if I take action against staff indulged in indiscipline activities. Even a Congress leader threatened me and I have presented the facts of such activities and threats received from outsiders to the authorities concerned, but no action is being taken which has hurt me and my dignity. Therefore I should be relieved from the post of principal and sent back to my parent department,” the principal wrote to the collector. A copy of the letter written by the principal has also been marked to the chief minister, Bhupesh Baghel and the principal secretary of the school education department, Chhattisgarh.
The principal further wrote, “I am following what the chief minister has said regarding his dream project – Swami Atmanand School. The chief minister clearly said that those who are found indulging in indiscipline acts even after three warnings should be punished under Samvida Adhiniyan 2012 and asked the principals to ensure it and the District SAGES committee will support this direction. But I am not getting the support in realizing the dream of the chief minister.”
Surajpur district education officer Vinod Rai said that being a principal he should work in coordination with all his staff.
When asked about the allegation of the principal that principals of all SAGES are toothless, the DEO said, “Small issues are common in a school having staff around 30-40 and the principal should handle the issues efficiently instead of complaining the same.” The principal has expressed his inability to continue in SAGES and he has made up his mind, he will be shifted to another place. The BEO has also been asked to look into the matter, said the DEO.
