Renowned Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay, who is best known for his volatile kitchen demeanour and sensational British cuisine, revealed his “drive” came from his mum.
The 56-year-old said “my mum was a big inspiration in terms of getting that workplace ethic in place”.
The television star revealed on Spencer Mathew’s Big Fish podcast how he saw his mum work three jobs and his first ambition, once he was successful, was to “change his ‘mum’s life”.
He continued: “Growing up in multiple s***holes, you get one’s s**t together early.
“… It’s a big thing for a son to look after their mum and not having a great relationship with dad then, you know, focused all that attention on looking after her I think, because she went to hell and back looking after us and keeping us four together.”

Gordon has lived on 15 council estates and went to multiple schools in his early years.
He claimed he never started cooking “to get rich, or to be sort of successful. I think the environment you come from defines you”.
His culinary interest followed a knee injury which destroyed his chances of becoming a footballer.
He then considered a career in the Royal Navy but then came across a course in hotel management.
Gordon said “that was the turnaround. That was the moment when I thought: forget the football. You know, I’m going to be a chef”.
He also credited The Banbury Roundtable – a local charity that helped with the costs of his kitchen equipment.
One of his infamous breaks was when he convinced Marco Pierre White to give him a job.
The chef, 62, employed Ramsay at his restaurant, Harvey’s.
Marco became a mentor and the pair worked together for 15 years.
Gordon stated: “I just, begged for the opportunity. And what did he see in me? I think he saw a bit of himself in me.”
He now has a string of successful restaurants across the globe.
He has written a number of cookbooks, which have become best sellers, and become a star on the small screen with his own television shows.
