Google issues urgent security warning to BILLIONS of phone owners – what to do
GOOGLE is preparing to make it harder for sites to track people around the internet by crumbling sneaky cookies.
The tech giant has been working on a new way that’s more privacy focused for years.
But sites have complained that the radical changes could negatively impact their businesses by disrupting the online ad business.
After some toing and froing, the firm has settled on a fix.
Google has rolled out early testing of its new system, dubbed the Privacy Sandbox, for Android developers.
The company says the tool can “limit sharing of user data with third parties and operate without cross-app identifiers, including advertising ID”.
Google is also exploring technologies that “reduce the potential for covert data collection”.
And it’s not just Android that will benefit – anyone using Chrome will too.
Google plans to test the new Privacy Sandbox for two years.
This will give developers plenty of time to familiarise themselves with the big changes.

Many people have also turned to anonymous web browsers like DuckDuckGo.
