google: Google Search on mobiles is getting better with this new feature – Times of India
Google has announced that it is bringing continuous scrolling on mobile devices for Search. This means that the moment you reach the bottom of a search results page on your phone, the next set of results will automatically load with relevant information. Addition of continuous scrolling comes after Google introduced a redesigned Search results page on mobile.
“While you can often find what you’re looking for in the first few results, sometimes you want to keep looking. In fact, most people who want additional information tend to browse up to four pages of search results. With this update, people can now seamlessly do this, browsing through many different results, before needing to click the “See more” button,” explained Google in a blog post.
The new feature will roll out gradually. It will be first available in the US and will work for Search results in English language.
Google had earlier announced how it is improving its Search results to show you content that is more relevant by introducing a new system of generating titles for web pages. The primary focus for Google going beyond HTML title tags to rank results. Google is making use of text that humans can visually see when they arrive at a web page to list websites to a search query.
The need to look beyond HTML tags for search results is important because as Google says HTML title tags don’t always describe a page well. This is because title tags can be “very long, “Stuffed” with keywords or contain repetitive “boilerplate” language.”
Google makes it clear that stuffing pages with keywords will not help much. “Content creators mistakenly think adding a bunch of words will increase the chances that a page will rank better,” Google said in a blog post.
Meanwhile, Google has recently updated its apps and services on iOS 15 and iPadOS 15. The most important feature in this update is that how Gmail, Meet, Tasks, Maps and other Google apps will handle notifications in iOS15 with Focus mode turned on. Google that they have updated their apps to work with Focus mode and make notifications as relevant and timely as possible.
