Google: Google Play Store to make it easier for users to find the right app based on their device’s form factor – Times of India
To make the app finding experience better, Google is planning to add new filtres in the Play Store. Spotted by @AssembleDebug on Twitter, Google Play has started testing new row of filtres for app installation screen listing.
These new filtres will allow users to select a form factor — TV, Phone, Watch, tablet, etc — to filtre apps that are suitable for that particular device. Selecting a filtre changes the listing a little bit.
The tipster further mentions that the reviews and ratings will also populate for that form factor only. This entire thing will make it easier for users to find the right apps for their devices.
The tipster mentions that this change is a part of the company’s rencet addition — Install on other devices that allows users to install apps on different devices that are linked to the same Google account.
The entire new addition or testing appears to be a part of Google’s other beta run, where it allows users to choose a form factor for the review and then post it on Play Store. Also, Google has recently added a dedicated filtre at the top of the page to filtre apps based on the device they are using.
This time around, Google is taking a step forward that will allow users to easily check the app’s compatibility with their device.
