Google brings back the timer feature for its Search engine – Times of India
In July, when it stopped working such searches were showing some “irrelevant” search results with landing pages of different websites. According to a report by AndroidPolice, the feature has started showing the widget once again and Google Search liaison Danny Sullivan has also shared a tweet recently to confirm the availability of the feature.
Welcome back “Google set a timer for X minutes.” Kudos to the team that worked to get this working again. https://t.co/I6V8bZCm7i

As per a report by The Verge, Sullivan has recently tweeted about the return of the feature from his official Twitter account. Sullivan also added that he was aware of the issue but wasn’t able to provide a satisfying answer about the return of the feature until now. Moreover, Sullivan also confirmed the feature’s eventual return at the beginning of the month but couldn’t provide a clear timeline.
How does this feature work
The report mentions that this Google Search feature is working in the same way it used to do previously. Currently, when users ask Google to “set a timer,” (without specifying the amount of time) it will start counting down from 5 minutes. Users can also specify the other amounts of time or set it for a time of the day like 3:15 p.m as well.
Moreover, users can also pull up a smartwatch from Google Search but will have to start that one by themselves while the timer will start running automatically. Apart from that, users can also issue a voice command to the Google app or Google Assistant on their mobile devices to do the same thing.
