Google announces second edition of ‘Startup School’ starting July 11

Google on Friday said it was launching the second edition of its Startup School program starting July 11, in collaboration with Startup India which has helped with the program design and outreach this year.

The search giant said that Startup School 2023’s program will span over eight weeks and will feature over 30 Google and industry experts via fireside chats with entrepreneurs and VCs, as well as instructor-led sessions on a series of topics including AI, product and tech strategy, marketing and global growth and funding and leadership.

“We hope to reach 30,000 startups and help them innovate responsibly, learn best practices at scale through a curriculum tailored to the unique needs of the Indian ecosystem,” Aditya Swamy, Director, Play Partnerships said in a blog post while adding that the launch edition of Startup School saw over 14,000 startups participate from over 600 towns and cities.

Some key sessions and speakers from the Startup School 2023 agenda include Bikram Bedi, Managing Director, Google Cloud India, Aastha Grover, Vice President, Invest India Head, Startup India, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Vani Kola, Managing Director, Kalaari Capital, Nitin Kamath, Founder and CEO, Zerodha, Sanjeev Barnwal, Founder and CTO Meesho among others.

“Startup India and Google with this shared mission of contributing to the growth of entrepreneurship in the country have come together to enable startups at scale through this program,” Manmeet K Nanda, Joint Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt of India said on the blog post.

Google said it launched its virtual Startup School in India last year to create an opportunity for founders to benefit from the institutional knowledge present among India’s experienced entrepreneurs and their teams. The company said that as cities like Indore, Madurai and Gorakhpur have emerged as the birthing grounds for new startups, it became imperative to provide such a platform.
