PANAJI: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has announced that it will hold exams starting from February 16 for students of Classes X and XII, who missed answering the first terminal exam due to medical reasons such as Covid-19 or their participation in the National Games.

For students of both Classes, the supplementary exam will be held starting from February 16.

For Class XII students, the exam will be held at two centres – Shree Damodar Higher Secondary School, Margao, and Sarojini Madhusudan Kushe Higher Secondary School, Assagao.
For students in Class X, the examination centres will be Janata High School, Mapusa, and Fatima Convent High School, Margao.

For Class XII students the exam will begin each day at 9.30am and at 9am for Class X students.

“SOPs for the conduct of the examination will be intimated much in advance,” the Goa Board circular stated.

Due to Covid-19, the Goa Board – and not the school – is conducting two term-end examinations for Class X and XII students during the academic year 2021-22 instead of conducting a single public exam at the end of the academic year.

Accordingly, the Goa Board conducted the first terminal exams for Class X and XII students for the year in December 2021-January 2022. However, some students were found to be unable to answer the exam due to Covid-19 infection and due to participation in National Games.

The Board then announced that a separate examination would be conducted for Class X and XII students who could not answer the December 2021-January 2022 first term exam.

“Under no circumstances the examination will be postponed even though any day is declared a public holiday,” the Goa Board has said of the February exam.

The Goa Board had asked school heads to recommend cases of students who can appear for the February exam by ensuring that the cases are genuine.

In the first terminal exams students are being assessed based on multiple choice questions. The second term exam will consist of assessments based on subjective questions.

Marks of the first term as well as the second term examinations will contribute to the final overall score of the student.
