GMB viewers left ‘appalled’ as John Lewis ad takes over ‘important discussion’
Good Morning Britain viewers have been left ‘appalled’ after the John Lewis Christmas advert interrupted an ‘important’ political debate.
The highly anticipated Christmas advert came out today and the breakfast show was mid-debate when they stopped the discussion to give a clip of the retail giant’s festive promotion.
The panel were discussing Conservative MP Owen Paterson, who was facing a 30-day suspension from the Commons for breaching lobbying rules over his paid consultancy work.

The debate between the panel, which included Ben Shephard and other political commentators, was ended by Kate Garraway to show a teaser clip of the John Lewis advert.
One viewer took to Twitter to complain and said: “Well what was that #gmb decided that they’d had enough of discussing serious corruption in our political system and they needed to suddenly deviate to show 10 seconds of the John Lewis Christmas ad.”

Another disgruntled viewer said: “Just switched @gmb off after they interrupted an interview about the Tory scandal to ‘break’ the story of the John Lewis ad being released.”
One man decided that was his last viewing of Good Morning Britain: “That is the last time I will ever watch GMB. Political debate is more important than a stupid Christmas advert. I will now be watching BBC Breakfast.”
The John Lewis advert was released about a week earlier than usual and was based on a love story between a young boy and an alien.
