GMB viewers baffled after Ed Balls asks Andi Peters if he’s had a spray tan
Good Morning Britain host Ed Balls made a serious faux pas after he asked Andi Peters if uses spray tan.
During Tuesday’s instalment, the retired MP, 56, and co-host Susanna Reid, 52, discussed how they felt about the procedure and asked various guests including show regulars Andrew Pierce and Kevin Maguire.
While introducing their daily competition segment, the camera did a split screen of Andi in Rome.
‘Spray tan Andi,’ Ed began.
Clearly taken aback, the TV personality gestured his arms as he quipped: ‘What do you think Ed?’
Before he laughed about the ordeal, Andi added: ‘I’ve been like this….’
In an attempt to make light of the situation, Susanna interjected: ‘He didn’t want to presume.’
Before addressing the rules of the competition, Andi replied: ‘Ed, the money I’ve spent for 52 years looking like this, if there’s anyone from L’Oréal, Garnier, any of them watching, I’ve invested a lot in your company.’
The hosts weren’t the only ones trying to see the funny side of the situation, with one viewer tweeting: ‘Ed ball asking Andi if he uses spray tan is the funniest thing on the show since piers walked off.’
‘”Spraytan, Andi?” Nearly spat my coffee across the room,’ another added.
A third person weighed in: ‘Did Ed Balls really just ask Andi Peters if he has a SPRAY TAN??’
Ed is known for his uhhh, interesting remarks on the morning show.
During a March instalment of the ITV morning show, Ed and Susanna reminisced about the time EastEnders actor Danny Dyer made a memorable impression.
‘We do love Danny Dyer on this programme,’ Susanna began.
‘He caused quite a stir didn’t he when he was talking about Brexit.’
Ed curiously asked: ‘I was here, he used the T word, are we allowed to say that this early?’
Although Susanna stressed that the expletive was on the Ofcom list, that didn’t stop the former Strictly Come Dancing star from trying his luck.
‘So you can’t say t**t?’ he said.
Susanna, donning a classic mum look, quickly quipped: ‘You do know we are on air don’t you?’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
