Gmail app on Android is getting a design update, here’s what’s changing – Times of India

Google keeps making changes to Gmail to offer a better user experience. The company recently rolled out the Help Me Write feature on Gmail to help users write professional and well-crafted emails. Now, the company is making a new change to Gmail on Android. And, it is not a new feature. 9to5Google has reported that the company is making a design update for the Gmail app on Android in regard to the notification.
What’s happening with Gmail notifications on Android
According to the report, the Gmail app on Android has received a design update for notifications. As a part of this, the Gmail notifications on Android will adapt to the Dynamic Colour theme of Android 13 operating system. That said, Gmail notifications on Android will no longer default to Gmail’s native Red colour icon in notifications.
The new change has been noticed in Gmail for Android version 2023.05.28.x and it is not rolling out to all users gradually.
With the new version, the icon’s background will match to the Dynamic Colour theme set for the device automatically. This results in a more consistent appearance for Gmail notifications and also makes the entire operating system appear more seamless in regard to design and theme.
Now, this is an obvious move from Google. However, the design change also brings some quirks. Earlier, the Gmail notifications with that Red colour used to stand out from the pile of notifications. With the new design update, it won’t be visible that easily.
Google has updated Sheets and Slides with the new Help Me Organise and Help Me Visualise features. Both features are a part of Google’s recently announced Generative AI feature that allows users to use both tools easily and more efficiently.
