Loose Women’s Gloria Hunniford broke down in tears during today’s show, as she paid tribute to her late daughter Caron Keating, on what would have been her 60th birthday.

Caron passed away in 2004 at the age of 41 after a battle with breast cancer, leaving behind two sons, Charlie and Gabriel, who were just ten and seven at the time.

The Loose Women panellist started up the Caron Keating Foundation in her memory, and to celebrate the milestone this year, Gloria shared a short film with clips and images of Caron, along with sharing memories with their family members.

In the short film, Gloria remembered how special her daughter was and their close bond, while Caron’s stepfather emotionally recalled their private conversations and ‘personal chats’ about Caron’s feelings.

Caron’s brothers also recalled finding out when Caron had cancer.

‘It was disbelief,’ Michael Keating revealed, adding: ‘It didn’t seem real.’

He added that Caron ‘remained positive’ throughout all of her treatments, saying that ‘weirdly’ they managed to find fun times and light within the darkness.

As the film drew to a close, Gloria couldn’t hold back her tears during Loose Women as the other panellists also looked emotional.

‘A clip of Caron can come up at short notice on telly and I can bear that for a minute but when you see that all put together,’ Gloria began as she broke down in tears.

‘I do find it very emotional when I see lots of clips of her moving, living, laughing, because she was a very special girl and she loved life.’

Offering her support, Christine Lampard shared that Gloria’s emotional words would ‘resonate’ with so many people watching: ‘It’s that suffering that no one wants to endure.’

Meanwhile, Coleen Nolan remembered Caron as a ‘lovely, down to earth woman.’

She was ‘very different,’ Gloria added, highlighting Caron’s ‘off the wall’ humour.

‘She was the woman I loved talking to the most,’ she said, calling Caron a ‘beautiful girl’ who ‘didn’t know how beautiful she was.’

‘You learn to live around that black hole,’ Gloria shared, hoping that it would help others suffering with grief.

Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV.
