Glass Onion fans are totally convinced Edward Norton’s character is a ‘parody’ of Elon Musk – and have joked about discussing the Netflix film on Twitter.

The Knives Out sequel sees Daniel Craig reprise his role as detective Benoit Blanc as he travels to Greece to solve a murder mystery on billionaire Miles Bron’s (Norton) exclusive island.

The sleuthing comes ahead of the eccentric entrepreneur’s ostentatious launch of a carbon-neutral fuel named Klear although there are massive question marks surrounding the safety of the substance.

The all-star cast also includes Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista, Janelle Monae, Kathryn Hahn and Leslie Odom Jr and is directed by Star Wars: The Last Jedi filmmaker Rian Johnson.

Crime drama fans, who have been lapping up the blockbuster movies since it landed on the global streamer on Friday, have, however, noticed a ‘striking similarity’ between Miles and the Tesla founder.

‘You can’t help but notice the parallels between Elon Musk and Miles Bron,’ one fan penned, while another remarked the character gave ‘strong Elon Musk vibes.’

A third commented: ‘Even if someone was trying to write Elon Musk into a film character on purpose, he wouldn’t do it as well as Miles in #GlassOnion
Wonderful film and perfect timing.’

Many others took to social media to ask if the Twitter owner was direct inspiration for Miles as they joked whether the film would be ‘banned’ from the social media site.

One account asked: ‘Are endorsements of #GlassOnion allowed on Elon Musk’s Twitter? I hope so because it’s a delight?’

‘2.5 minutes into #GlassOnion and Elon is gonna ban this one on Twitter,’ a Netflix fan quipped.

Musk, 51, launched his dramatic Twitter takeover bid in April after buying up enough shares to become the site’s biggest shareholder but then rejected a seat on the company’s board.

What followed was six months of public sparring as the billionaire criticised Twitter’s executives, policies and statistics around spam accounts.

After at one point walking away from the deal and before a looming court case to settle the issue, Musk gave in and paid the original price of $44 billion (£36 billion) to take control of the platform.

Meanwhile, Kate, who plays Birdie Jay, a former supermodel turned fashion designer, confessed to Metro.co.uk she felt nervous on her first day on set.

She said: ‘I was so excited. Nervous? The only time I felt nervous was on that first day when we all showed up. It was like, [gasp].’

‘That was fun because we were all together,’ she added. ‘There was no easing into it.’

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is available to stream on Netflix.
