Gitam varsity plans for Bio-Nest – Times of India
VISAKHAPATNAM: The Gitam university is planning to set up a BioNest incubation center to promote innovation in life sciences and seek support from its alumni. The Vice Chancellor of the Gitam varsity Prof. Dayananda Siddavattam hoped that the BioNest would come into reality next year.
Speaking to media persons here on Monday, the Vice Chancellor said that the university is activity pursuing starting a Bio Nest facility to promote and develop new entrepreneurs. He also said that the university is engaging its alumni to utilize the newly established venture development center (VDC) facilities to support the start-up ecosystem. He said that the Gitam alumni meet would conduct on December 17 in which they are expecting 1500 above participants from the 2001 to 2007 batches of the varsity.
The Gitam Alumni Relations Deputy Director P Naveen said that they are planning for the community build-up program by brining all 70,000 alumni of Gitam under one umbrella. So far, they have in touch with 9000 above alumni and it would reach 35,000 by next year. More than 250 students and 80 faculty are striving hard for the alumni meet to be held on December 17.
Gitam School of Business Dean Prof. Amit Bhadra, School of Technology Dean Prof. Vijaya Sekhar, School of Science Dean Prof. Balakumar, Gitam Dental College and Hospital Assistant Principal Dr.R. Sandhya explained about the alumni meeting. They said that the university has been giving special scholarships to alumni children and more than 1150 alumni received scholarships between 2020 -2022. Varsity Career Services and External Relations Associate Dean Commander Gurumoorthy Gangadharan (Retd) and others participated.
