Giovanni & Rose provide ‘moment of the series’ while Dan Walker ‘in need of sexual sizzle’
Strictly Come Dancing has returned to British television screens for the iconic show’s 19th series. More than one couple is already the favourite to win, but who looked the most confident on the dance floor last night?
“Giovanni is famous as the show’s prime producer of seductive fake-flirting.
“He’s the guy any woman would want to be waltzing with to re-boot their confidence and their sexual sparkle after a messy divorce or some other form of ego-crushing.
“This season though we have seen a transformation in Giovanni, thanks to the fun, feisty and fearless Rose, who appears refreshingly free of any of the signs of self-pity that celebs usually try to cash in on during their Strictly ‘experience’.”
As the judges revealed the pair’s perfect 10 scores, “Gio first performed an identical foot-stomping dance of triumph as Rose, only separately from her, with this act or subliminal mirroring showing how intrinsically like-minded the pair have become over the Strictly run”, according to Judi.

As for their routine on the dance floor, Judi said Rose and Gio’s “torsos and pelvises fitted together like magnets, suggesting high levels of trust between them too”.
Off the floor, the couple are not usually very tactile, but last night Gio planted two kisses on either side of Rose’s head, “the first an industrial-strength one and the second a more tender gesture”.
Rose and Gio’s body language helped them receive their perfect score, but other couples were not as demonstrative during their routine.
Judi claimed partners Dan Walker and Nadiya Bychkova lacked chemistry and were in need of some “sexual sizzle”.
She said: “Nice-guy Dan is so in need of some sexual sizzle out there on the floor and watching Nadya trying to ignite it has been like watching a boy scout rubbing two sticks together in the pouring rain.
“A jive should have been Dan’s week for going full Danny Zuko in terms of suppressed machismo.
“It encourages preening, chest-puffing peacocking from the male dancer and perhaps a bit of lifting his partner around as well, which should have been a doddle of the tall and apparently fit Dan.
“Instead he came out dressed as a lobster in the kind of skin-tight Lycra onesie that would have created comedy gold for Rodney on Only Fools and Horses.”
Although Judi said Dan’s body language throughout the routine “made him look like a very, very obedient pupil which should make the pro dancer’s job easy”, he was “copying Nadiya to the letter, with his mirrored dancing looking like a chemistry-free zone”.
A couple who had no problem whatsoever with chemistry, though, was AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington.
There are internet rumours that the contestants, who are single, are dating.
However, whatever the truth, Judi said “Kai was still very much in professional mode, performing a forward steeple gesture with his hands to suggest he’s determined to put their energy into the discipline needed to win the competition”.
The body language expert added: “He tended to stand back slightly as they collected comments and scores after their dance and looked happy to allow AJ to be the star of the show.”
