Gigi De Lana revealed that after her road accident in May, she fell victim to scammers who took the money she was supposed to use for the medical expenses of her mom.

The singer spoke about her experience while showing photos of herself taken days after her and her band’s La Union accident, via her Facebook page on Tuesday, June 20. De Lana said she shared the photos in response to those who accused her of acting pitiful after the accident.

“Please be kind. Simula nung naaksidente kami from car accident, ang dami na nang-scam sa akin,” she said. “Ninakawan ako sa BDO, kinuha lahat ng laman. [Pang-medical] bills sana ‘yun ni mama kaso wala [kayong] awa.”

(Please be kind. Since I figured in a car accident [in May], I have been victimized by a lot of scammers. They took the money in my BDO [account], all of it. It was for my mom’s medical bills, but you showed no pity.)

De Lana’s mom has been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer.

De Lana then recalled how the person who scammed her talked to her over the phone and even wished for the singer’s speedy recovery.

“Sinabihan pa ako sa phone call ng, ‘Get well soon po kay Ma’am Gigi,’ tapos after no’n ninakawan na ako nang tuloy-tuloy hanggang sa maubos laman,” she stated. “Grabe kayo. Di na kayo naawa.”

(They even told me over the phone, “Get well soon, Ma’am Gigi,” then emptied my [bank account] after. You have no pity.)

“Please wag kayo mang-scam or magnakaw,” she appealed. “Please let us be kinder sa isa’t isa.” (Please do not scam or steal from others. Let us please be kinder to one another.)

De Lana has been selling some of her personal items to raise funds for her mom. In a separate post, she lamented how there are individuals who have been introducing themselves as part of the singer’s team to trick buyers into sending their payments to them.

De Lana made public her mom’s condition earlier this year after she cut her hair short to show support for her mom who has been undergoing chemotherapy.  /ra
