Giants’ Daniel Jones shows off running ability to score easy touchdown
Observations from Friday’s Giants practice.
Slay’er
It was a big afternoon for Darius Slayton.
He caught several passes, including the play of the day: A full-speed full-extension outstretched catch of a pinpoint deep pass from Daniel Jones.
Slayton got only one step on rookie CB Deonte Banks, but that was all he needed.
Hole-y hell
On the first play of the team period, Jones faked a handoff and took off on a quarterback keeper straight up the gut of the defense, showing off his speed as he sprinted in for the easy touchdown.
Given Jones’ running ability, the defense seemed quite unprepared for this play.
Caught my eye
During a pass-rush drill, the outside linebackers went down in a three-point stance, weaved through and hit three blue bags before curling back and making a hit and strip of the red “quarterback’’ bag.
Newly signed Tashawn Bower did not exactly line up in the correct spot and Kayvon Thibodeaux instantly went over to alert Bower where to go.
Good teammate.
Injury report
WR Cole Beasley took a knee to the quad on Thursday and was held out of practice on Friday. Rookie S Gervarrius Owens (soreness) remained out.
Head coach Brian Daboll said DT Rakeem Nunez-Roches, out with a concussion after a car accident, is making progress.
