‘Get a life’: Cricket WAG hits back at news site

Bonnie Paine has hit back at a “ridiculous” story about her having lip filler, accusing them of acting like she “should be ashamed” of it.

The wife of former Australian Test cricket captain Tim Paine has hit back at the Daily Mail over a “ridiculous” story about her having lip filler, accusing the site of acting like she “should be ashamed” of it.

Bonnie Paine, who is an aesthetic nurse, shared a screenshot of the story to Instagram, which declared the mum-of-two had sparked “lip filler rumours as she displays a VERY plump pout”.

“Someone close to me brought this to my attention … as if I should be ashamed,” Bonnie wrote over the article.

“I have fillers in my lips. I’ve been having them since I was 23 years old. (I am now 32). I also have anti-wrinkle injections in my forehead, crows feet and above my upper lip. FYI I’m an aesthetic nurse.

“And I am very open and honest about the ‘work’ I have done.”

She wrote in another Instagram story with side-by-side photos of herself with and without filler that she got cosmetic injections because they make her “feel a lot more confident”.

“Same reason anyone gets fillers, anti wrinkle injections, their hair coloured, nails done, fake tan etc etc etc,” she wrote.

Finishing with a picture of herself and her daughter Mila, Bonnie said: “Seriously @dailymailau (and anyone who actually reads these ridiculous articles) get a life.”

The post comes months after Bonnie’s husband Tim stepped down as Test captain in late November, following a sexting scandal in which he sent a lewd photo and explicit messages to a female staffer on the eve of the 2017/18 Ashes series.

In an extensive, exclusive interview with The Sunday Telegraph at the time, Bonnie opened up about how she had forgiven Paine for his indiscretion.

Paine told the publication “this is really distressing and upsetting, and I’m really embarrassed”.

“I feel sick for Bonnie and for my family, more than anything else,” he added, while Bonnie said “it was horrific” when they worked through the issue four years ago.

“I have a bit of sympathy for Tim. A lot actually. He and I went through all of this privately in 2018,” she said.

“I feel a bit frustrated that it’s all been brought up and aired in the public when we put it to bed years ago. I have moved forward since then. I feel like there is a lot of injustice for it being dragged out again.”

Bonnie said “I was shocked” to find out about the sexting scandal, adding: “I don’t claim to be perfect, but I was still completely rocked.”

Bonnie also stressed the “need to forgive” in marriages, adding Paine’s emotional confession in front of the media in November “broke my heart to be honest”.
