Genshin Impact Who Are Shenhe’s VAs Kawasumi Ayako & Chelsea Kwoka?
Genshin Impact 2.4 just revealed the voice actor talents of Shenhe, in English and in Japanese, with the sneak peak Livestream: Chelsea Kwoka and Kawasumi Ayako.
As the newest 5-star character, Shenhe is the newest most sought after character of Genshin Impact releasing with 2.4.
While we already had details on Shenhe’s lore and gameplay, both through official announcements and leaks, nothing about her voice was known until now. We finally heard her voice for the first time with the trailers for 2.4.

Who is Kawasumi Ayako, Japanese voice of Shenhe in Genshin Impact?
Ayako Kawasumi is a seiyuu (Japanese voice actors and actresses) who most notably voiced Saber in Fate/stay night and the Nasuverse. She also voices nearly all the others saberface characters as well. Be sure to check out our beginner friendly introduction to the Fate franchise and the Nasuverse.
Ayako Kawasumi recently voiced Saber again in Melty Blood Type Lumina, the fighting game based on Tsukihime, another part of the Nasuverse.
Ayako Kawasumi also voices Kokoro in Dead or Alive. Older anime fans also know her as the voice of Lafiel in the Seikai no Monshou / Banner of the Stars franchise.
Kawasumi’s very first role was in the anime adaptation of Kosuke Fujishima’s You’re Under Arrest in 1996. Voicing a random mob / background female officer. Her main character debut was as Melfina, the black-haired Heroine of Outlaw Star in 1998.
More anime and game roles from Shenhe seiyuu Ayako Kawasumi
Shoujo fans (or people with good anime taste in general) know her as Nodame in Nodame Cantabile. Kawasumi was also Henrietta in Zero no Tsukaima, Kanako Ohno in Genshiken, Takumi’s girlfriend Natsuki in Initial D. She’s also Elie, the Heroine of the best series by Hiro Mashima, Rave Master.
Those who don’t judge anime by their covers also know her for voicing Leina, the primary protagonist of the Queen’s Blade anime adaptation.
Other Kawasumi roles I particularly like are Fuu in Samurai Shamploo, Ushiromiya Lion in Umineko, Gwendolyn in Odin Sphere, Ati in now defunct RPG series Summon Night (be sure to check its spiritual successor Maglam Lord), and Ange in Trauma Center.
Last but not least, Ayako Kawasumi is also Blood Leopard in Accel World by SAO‘s author, which sadly never got an anime sequel.
Who is Chelsea Kwoka English voice of Shenhe?
In the English dub of Genshin Impact, Shenhe is voiced by VA and actress Chelsea Kwoka. She is working both as a voice actress and as a theater actress, owning a degree in theatre. Chelsea Kwoka is also into cinema, and worked in 2021 on her own short movie with an all female cast. She also appeared in short horror film Don’t Forget to Brush Your Teeth in 2018.
Shenhe gameplay trailer
Personally speaking, seeing Shenhe doesn’t look much like Saber nor most of Ayako Kawasumi’s popular roles, I definitely wasn’t expecting her. Kawasumi didn’t cross my mind during my predictions either. But that choice does makes a lot of sense. And more and more veteran seiyuu will join Genshin Impact.
Genshin Impact is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, iOS, and Android. Version 2.4 launches on January 5, 2022. Plus, a Nintendo Switch version is also coming at some point but has no release date yet. You can always reach out to me on Twitter @A_iyane07 for seiyuu-related discussions.
