Genshin Impact: New Fontaine Character Could Appear in Kaeya’s Hangout Quest
Genshin Impact’s story is heading towards the reveal of the next area in the game, Fontaine. A new leak suggests that the upcoming 3.8 update could feature a character that has yet to become playable in the game.
According to a leak via Team China, Kaeya’s hangout quest includes two characters utilising placeholder models. One of these characters, portrayed by Keqing’s placeholder model, has caught attention. The quest also includes a unique NPC portrayed by a placeholder model of Timaeus.
Team China, who has been a source of leaks in the past, has observed the actions of the Keqing placeholder model in the hangout quest and deduced that it could be a medium male playable character. They have speculated that it could be Lyney, a character that was shown alongside Lynette in the chapter storyline preview trailer. No further information is added on why this placeholder character could be Lyney, however.
This means that an entirely new and unreleased character could make their debut in Kaeya’s hangout event. Previous hangout quests have also included characters who were not yet playable at the time of release, such as Yae, Thoma, and Gorou.
It could be a placeholder for a new skin
In the past, there have been instances where existing characters’ placeholder models were used in place of a character’s new skin. For example, before Lisa’s A Sobriquet Under Shade outfit was released in Version 3.4, a leak showed Keqing alongside Alhaitham in Sumeru. Here, Keqing was used as a placeholder for Lisa in her new skin.
Genshin Impact Version 3.7 Duel! The Summoners’ Summit released on May 24.
