According to a new leak by popular Genshin Impact leaker Project Celestia, the latest beta contains details about a new character. This is quite interesting considering the fact that we haven’t heard about the character in the game’s lore or data before, which seemingly hints that this could be something nobody exepcted.

Coming to the leak itself, the new character is apparently known as “Nilou”. The leak states that the new character has a body type of a girl character like Keqing. However, it goes on to say that the body type could just be a placeholder until the character is being worked upon. Or maybe to prevent giving away too much about the character. Lastly, there is a disclaimer that this could be subject to change, which is the case with all such leaks.

From the looks of it, it is most likely that Nilou will be a girl character, considering that the name it has a female name only. However, what is interesting is the fact that we have never heard about the character before, so it is quite difficult to understand exactly where the character fits in.

As usual, fans have started speculating about what the character could be, and we have got some interesting theories. One striking theory states that the word Nilou means lotus which symbolizes the Iranian goddess of water, Anahita. It is mentioned by Vahid that Kusanali gives Anahitian Blessing, which grants the land vitality and is widely used by farming. This possibly hints that Nilou could be Lesser Lord Kusanali, who is the Archon of the Sumeru region.
