Gen Z just insulted millennials in the worst way imaginable

It can be traced back to the take down of the skinny jean.

Once a staple in many a millennial wardrobe, Gen Z decided they were officially over – and thus, war was declared between the two age groups.

Gen Z have gone after side parts, the cry laughing emoji and making Harry Potter house a personality e.g. the most sacred aspects of millennial culture.

Meanwhile, millennials will point out that youngsters are lazy, overuse slang (what does ‘rizz’ even mean anyway?), and copy everything we did first time around in the 90s and 00s.

And now, more shots have been fired – and those pesky Gen Zs have hit us where it hurts.

Apparently, millennials aren’t funny anymore.

A new trend has popped up on TikTok showing Gen Z creators making fun of millennials’ comedic stylings.

So what are we doing that’s so un-funny?

Well firstly, it turns out that self-deprecating humour no longer lands – a hard concept to adjust to for those us that laughed along to Chandler Bing constantly take the p*ss out of himself in Friends.

In one parody, creator Kevin Crow made fun of our apparently excessively dark jokes: ‘This garbage bag is just like me… because I’m literally trash,’ he said, followed by some fake laughing.

He then added: ‘This cup is almost as small as my will to live – am I right?’

Harsh? Maybe. But if you’re making these jokes to a Gen Zer, expect tumbleweed.

And if you’re making smart quips about how ‘#adulting is so hard’, that’s not going to get you any laughs either.

There’s also nothing funny about those zoomed in camera angles and knowing looks a la The Office – not cool, not funny, not Gen Z.

We’re are also being mocked for our ‘goofy’ or ‘cringe’ humour – so stylised videos of funny jingles or actual you know, written and thought out jokes, are also oh-so millennial.

And if you thought you were down with the kids, using witty phrases such as ‘let’s get lit,’ ‘I can’t even,’ or ‘swerve’, is going to get you more side eyes than laughs.

What is a little harder to work out is what the youth of today does actually think is worth a laugh – apart from teasing us millennials, of course.

For now, Gen Z can have their fun – there’ll be a new generation telling them how uncool they are soon enough.
