TOWIE star Gemma Collins has revealed she’s hatched an eggcellent plan to beat the cost of living and food shortage crisis.

The 42-year-old is planning on a bit of farming to get her food on the table, as she plans to invest in some chickens to keep her costs down.

Gemma admitted the news sends her into a panic for the day with the cost of living crisis and subsequent food shortages raging on.

Eggs are particularly hard to come by nowadays with the ongoing shortage, so the reality TV personality might actually be on to something here.

Iconic as ever, The GC told Steph’s Packed Lunch host Steph McGovern about her poultry plans on today’s show and how she’s going to feed the nation.

The Reality TV star said: ‘I woke up this morning I saw the news and I wish I’d never put the news on because it just gets me in a panic for the day.

‘And literally I saw about the food shortages and I was like, “I need eggs, I need chickens!” because I’m growing potatoes and I think you could survive.

‘I saw Matt Damon was in a movie once, he went to Mars. I remember a segment in the field where he was growing potatoes and I thought, “Well if I grow potatoes and I have fresh eggs, I’m going to live!”, so that was the thought process.

‘I went to the supermarket the other day and tea bags were £5.10, I drink tea like it’s going out of fashion and I even doubled took and I was like, “That is a liberty!”

‘No one in this country, or anywhere, deserves to be in a situation where they can’t afford food,’ she continued, ‘so if I keep growing the veggies they can come to me and get it from me, it’s so rewarding, I’m obsessed.’

Gemma is pretty green-fingered already, to be fair to her, as she reminisced about a particularly delicious home-grown meal she enjoyed last night.

‘I did a beautiful dinner last night, cut the lettuce out the ground, yes, I had to wash a few slugs off, however the taste of the lettuce was stunning,’ she said.

‘You can go into a supermarket and you’re paying, especially for that bagged up salad, I think one supermarket you just buy literally the iceberg lettuce and it’s about £3.99 and there’s zero taste.

‘And also I’ve noticed recently that a lot of the fruit and vegetables are not fresh when you’re buying it, so that’s not fair on the consumer is it?’

She’s not going to be able to feed the whole country, but we’d absolutely love to see farmer GC try.

Someone commission this TV show immediately, please?
