Gemma Atkinson had to call ambulance for daughter after concerns over pregnancy

Former Emmerdale actress Gemma Atkinson has detailed the “stress” she has faced in the later stages of her second pregnancy.

The heavily pregnant star shared that she and her Strictly star fiancé Gorka Marquez had to call an ambulance for their young daughter, Mia, while their beloved pet dogs Norman and Olly also suffered health scares recently.

Gemma got onto the subject after addressing why she hadn’t been posting as many baby bump photos to Instagram lately.

The Hits Radio presenter revealed her pregnancy snaps had left her “inundated with messages from people being dead concerned” over the shape of her blossoming bump.

Gemma, who is expecting a baby boy, divulged: “I’ve not posted a lot of bump pictures because when I do, I get inundated with messages from people being dead concerned.

“I know it comes from a lovely place, but I’ve had, ‘oh my God, you’re too high, he’s not coming for ages’. ‘There’s no way the head can be down’. ‘Is he definitely not breached, is he ok?’

Responding to the concerns, Gemma reassured her followers: “He’s fine. The last four weeks I’ve had check-ups weekly, and he’s been in the same place.

“His head physically, like, can’t get any lower without coming out – he’s on the left, he’s perfect where he needs to be.

“I’ve had two sessions with the chiropractor, I’ve got another one tomorrow, she has physically felt his head, so yeah, everything’s good.

“My placenta is also here [pointing to her bump] it’s up high – it was the same position with Mia, it’s just where my placenta is.

“It’s common, you can have posterior or anterior, that makes a difference. So yeah, he’s good, he’s cooking away, and whenever he’s ready, he will make his entrance into this world.”

Gemma went on to point out stress isn’t good for the baby, while detailing the worrying family situations she and Gorka have been through in recent weeks.

The blonde beauty continued in her Instagram video: “Another thing they say with the little fella, stress doesn’t help.

“I don’t get stressed I don’t think, I try not to, but three weeks ago, Olly jumped out of my mum’s boot.

“We thought he’d fractured his foot, so he had to be put to sleep to have an X-ray,” Gemma said of her pet dog.

“Last time he was put to sleep, he reacted really badly to the anaesthetic he had to breathe through – same thing happened again – he hadn’t broken his foot, but he did react badly to the anaesthetic, so that was a worry.”

Gemma then addressed her daughter Mia’s health scare after she had “a weird breathing thing”, which luckily isn’t troubling the youngster anymore.

She added: “The week after, she’s totally fine now, we had to have an ambulance out at one in the morning for Mia, because she had a weird breathing thing – totally fine now.

“And today, Norman was in the vet’s,” Gemma revealed of her second pet pooch, while captioning the post: “To give you a small insight of my peaceful maternity leave this last 3 weeks.”
