Geena Davis avoided Jack Nicholson with advice from Dustin Hoffman
In the eighties, Geena was not yet the established actress she is now, and had just landed one of her breakout roles in 1982’s Tootsie, with Dustin Hoffman, 85, and Jessica Lange, 73.
According to Davis, on-set, Dustin had advised her to avoid sleeping with any co-stars, including ones she had not yet worked with.
He was adamant on this point, and even gave the budding actress an excuse to use if she ever needed to shut down an admirer.
She said Dustin advised her to say: “Well, you’re very attractive. I would love to, but it would ruin the sexual tension between us.”

While she may not have needed it at that moment, a few years later, she found herself on a phone call with one of Hollywood’s leading lads.
Geena claimed The Shining actor flirted with her over the phone, before she shut him down with Dustin’s line.
Speaking to The New Yorker recently, Geena revealed a bit more than can be read in her memoir.
She revealed that she had met Jack a few times in that decade, as she was still modelling alongside her acting career.
Her modelling agent would usually set up dinners with her and other models following her success on Tootsie, and sometimes invited his friend Jack.
After Jack had attended a few of these dinners Geena recalled getting a mysterious note.
She said: “One day there was a note under the door that said: ‘Please call Jack Nicholson at this number.’ I was, like, I can’t believe it!”
The starlet was not yet an established actress, unlike Jack, 85, who had been acting for over 20 years by that point.

However, Geena didn’t quite realise what the phone call would actually be about.
She gave Jack a call and claimed he tried to jumpstart their relationship, allegedly saying: “Hey, Geena. When is it gonna happen?”
Recalling Dustin’s advice years earlier, Geena told him: “Uh, Jack, I would love to. You’re very attractive.
“But I have a feeling we’re going to work together at some point in the future, and I would hate to have ruined the sexual tension between us.”
Geena noted the line “worked”, but Jack had seemingly heard it before, allegedly asking: “Oh, man, where’d you get that?”
