Geelong star Gary Rohan and Madi Bennett are engaged, 14 months after going official

Rohan and Bennett’s relationship went public in May last year and in touching posts conveyed just how much they meant to each other as Bennett showed off her engagement ring to the world.

“You showed me how to smile again when I thought I had forgotten how, and you have made me happier than I ever thought I could be. You have made me a better partner, father and person and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you. I love you Mads xxx,” Rohan posted.

Bennett captioned the same image with: “You make me happier than I ever thought I could be. A kind of happiness I never knew was possible, and a kind of love I thought only existed in movies. You are my whole world and more, and forever with you is everything I could have ever dreamt of. I love you Gaz.”

Rohan already has two daughters Bella, 3, and Sadie, 1 with ex-wife Amie Rohan.

The separated couple’s third daughter Willow Nevaeh, died just five hours after being born as a result of a fatal neural tube defect with no cure known as anencephaly.

Rohan last year shared his admiration for his then new partner and his pride in seeing her discuss her emotions publicly after she shared news of a “savage disease”.

“He wrote on Instagram: “I’m so proud of this incredible woman, one of the strongest people I have ever met. I love you”.

Rohan’s four-year marriage reportedly ended when the AFL went into its Covid-19 isolation bubble in 2020, just months after the birth of the pair’s third child Sadie Rose in March last year.

Amie and Gary were childhood sweethearts and married in 2016.

Amie was a notable absentee when many of the club’s partners and children joined the players inside their Gold Coast isolation hub in August.

She stayed behind on the Bellarine Coast near Geelong with her daughters.
