Gardeners’ World’s Adam Frost reveals all on family’s difficult health battle
ADAM Frost has recently decided to break ground in speaking about the tough health battle his family faced which led to some major changes.
The Gardeners’ World host is best known for his advice on horticulture, but he has a lot to say on mental health now too after difficult experiences during lockdown.
His wife Sulina Frost ended up being hospitalised with sepsis for three months during the pandemic.
Adam was left juggling taking care of his four kids and paying daily visits to his wife in the ward.
One of his teenage daughters also ended up developing bulimia during the family health crisis.
He quickly found himself burning out, and was diagnosed with depression when he ended up stuck inside alone with his thoughts after catching Covid.
The landscaping expert told the Times: “I was sat in front of a psychiatrist and a doctor and said, ‘You know, I’ve got burn-out and depression,’ which was a surprise as I only went into the room with Covid. The wheels came off a little bit.
“I think, in reality, life just caught up. No different to so many people, I think.”
He shared that he sat down for a frank conversation with his family where they discussed whether they were managing with the upkeep of the large property they lived in.
He added: “We decided it was great with the house and the garden but actually what we realised was that it was great when everybody was well.
“When your wife gets poorly and your family get poorly, it’s a stark reminder that there are other things in life.”
Ultimately they decided to buy a family home that had less acreage, and Adam has been keeping fans updated on the transformation of his new garden.
