Gamers are just realising that if you haven’t bought a PS5 you should wait
RUMOURS have been swirling around the internet concerning the future of the PS5.
The latest PlayStation console is almost three years old, and it appears that big changes are coming.
PS5’s price and availability have really fluctuated over the last few years.
After two years of limited stock, PS5s only became widely available at the end of last year.
This followed a price increase on the console of around £30 that affected certain regions around mid-2022.
Lately, rumours have surfaced about a PS5 Slim and a potential PS5 Pro, following documents submitted by Microsoft.
The document reads: “[Sony] is expected to release a PlayStation 5 Slim later this year at the same reduced price point [as the PS5 Digital]”.
More validity was given to Microsoft’s claims after the PS5 received a price drop in a number of regions outside of the UK.
PS5 price decreases of between €50 to €100 were seen across Europe, making the console more affordable than ever before.
However, new rumours have surfaced that the UK will also receive a price drop shortly, followed by the announcement of the PS5 SIim.
These announcements could be simultaneous, but we appear to have a better idea of when this could be.
It is believed that the disc-based console will receive a £75 price reduction, in the UK dropping the price to £404.99.
The rumours also suggest that this announcement will be around August, alongside the PS5 Slim announcement.
It is also speculated that the new PS5 model will come with a detachable disc drive, which will also be sold separately for digital-only console owners.
Whether these rumours are true or not, it seems we won’t know until next month.
