A geeky neighbour dispute has gone viral on social media after one man had an amusing response to being asked to keep his television noise down. A man has posted a note his neighbour left him to Reddit, in which she stated that she can hear him loudly playing the hit fantasy television series Game of Thrones through the wall when she is trying to sleep.
Her friendly note read: “Dear neighbour. I would like to ask you friendly to keep the TV noise down during bedtime hours (11pm to 8am).
“Even though I also enjoyed Game of Thrones a lot, I would rather not be able to follow complete episodes in the middle of the night. Thanks for your understanding.”
The man was delighted to learn he lived next to a fellow Game of Thrones fan and decide to send her a “wholesome” apology littered with many references to the show as well as a box of chocolates.
The man’s reply read: “Dear neighbour of House Bastings. Forgive me, I was unaware that my television was louder than a Dothraki horde during the late hours.

“Though not born a Lannister, I too always pay my debts. Take these chocolates as a gesture of goodwill. Brace yourself, quieter nights are coming. Gratitude for your understanding.”
Game of Thrones was a popular series set in a medieval fantasy world in which noble houses competed for the royal throne of Westeros, with two of the main houses being House Lannister, a rich but ruthless family who always “pay their debts” and House Stark, who pride themselves being honourable and not playing political games.
One of the main characters of the series is the former princess Daenerys Targaryen, who has been exiled and married into a Dothraki warlord in order to try and take back the throne.
The man posted his note to the Game of Thrones forum on Reddit, causing many commentators to praise him as the “perfect neighbour.”
One user said: “You’re the neighbour we all want!” and someone else wrote: “There are no bad houses here. Good job to both of you.”
Another person wrote: “This made my day, classy and clever response!” while a third commentator said: “I love it when two adults act like adults and resolve conflict civilly.”
Someone else wrote: “In a time where so posts are about horrible neighbours, it’s nice to see people getting on!”
While the man has earned many admirers, some people gently remind the man to wear headphones in the evening.
One person wrote: “Being asked to be quiet after 11pm is more than reasonable. Time to invest in some headphones.”
A second user wrote: “You have some good neighbours, if someone woke me up at night I would be so mad. If you wear headphones then I think you will have made yourself a friend.”
