Gallen’s surprise response to foul-mouthed call-out
Boxing call-outs don’t come much more intense.
As Paul Gallen steeled himself for his fight against Justin Hodges on Thursday night, his preparation was hijacked by a heavyweight’s incredible choice of words on the microphone at Brisbane’s Nissan Arena.
Joseph Goodall flipped his ring interview in dramatic fashion, unloading on Gallen.

By that point in the night, Gallen had overcome Ben Hannant via unanimous decision and was about to beat Hodges by TKO.
Main Event’s coverage caught the rugby league legend taking in Goodall’s call-out on a TV in his warm-up area, watching on stunned.
“Paul Gallen, I’ve been calling (you) out for years! Years!” Goodall screamed.
“You’ve been ducking and dodging.
“(Justis) Huni beat him, Kris Terzievski beat him, but that wasn’t good enough. That wasn’t punishment, that wasn’t enough blood. I’m the man to give him a bloody hiding.
“I’m the Queenslander, I’m the Queenslander here.
“Or Kris Terzievski. He’s got the Australian title, I want the Australian title, so fight me next or vacate.
“Back to Paul Gallen! Excuse my French … fight me, or f— off! And go away and live the rest of your life as a p—-.”
Gallen chalked up two wins for New South Wales on his radical fight night with Queensland greats Hannant and Hodges.
The 41-year-old then defused Goodall’s call-out in a panel interview with Main Event.
“We all want a pay day, we all want a pay day. Don’t we?” Gallen said with a laugh.
Gallen conquers Hodges in brutal fight
“I can’t understand boxers calling out a 41-year-old bloke who’s about to retire.
“Everyone wants a pay day, but I don’t know what fighting me does for his career.
“But anyway, that’s the way it is.
“I understand people want to call me out, and that’s fine.
“But I’ve got one fight left on my contract and it won’t be against Joe Goodall. I can say that.”
