G.I. Joe Snake Eyes Game Gets the Thumbs Up From Wizards of the Coast

A G.I. Joe Snake Eyes video game is now in pre-production after approval from Wizards of the Coast.

US developer Atomic Arcade, led by ex-Warner Bros. developer Ames Kirshen, said it’s moved from the concept phase into the pre-production phase on a “AAA” G.I. Joe Snake Eyes game after a recent meeting with staff from publisher Wizards of the Coast.

The pre-production phase focuses on getting the game and team ready for full production and then release, Atomic Arcade said in a blog post.

Snake Eyes was the star of a 2021 film called Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins that was designed to set up a rebooted G.I. Joe movie franchise. Recent Transformers movie Rise of the Beasts forges a direct link to the iconic ‘80s franchise, teasing a Transformers vs. G.I. Joe movie at some point.

Wizards of the Coast was thought to have a number of video games in the works, including Atomic Arcade’s Snake Eyes game. However, a Bloomberg report from January suggested the Dungeons & Dragons owner had cancelled at least five unannounced games in an apparent scaling back of the company’s ambitions in the video game space.
