Fury sets Joshua final deadline to sign contract before he ‘moves on’
Tyson Fury has doubled down on Frank Warren’s claims that if Anthony Joshua does not sign the final contracts for their December date by Monday he will ‘move on’ to another fight.
Speaking to Queensbury Promotions from ringside ahead of Joe Joyce vs Joseph Parker, the Gypsy King said: “I was optimistic about three weeks ago but it shouldn’t be taking this long to sign a contract. We’ll know by Monday anyway because if it’s not done by Monday I’m moving on.
“I’m not waiting around for some guy who’s lost three of his last five fights. He’s lucky that I’m giving him a world title shot, but I don’t mind chucking him a bone you know, but I don’t want them to start dictating s*** to me.
“He is an invited guest at my party, my rules. So if you want to play the game? Come to the banquet and take your seat.”
Fury’s brother Shane recently disclosed that The Gypsy King will face a “run-out opponent” on the same date if the AJ fight falls through. The expected replacement is Mahmoud Charr, who has been trading verbal jabs with Fury ever since the Mancunian announced he was returning to the ring following his brief retirement in April.
Charr (33-4) fits the description of a “run-out opponent” having lost every time he has stepped up to world level against the likes of Vitali Klitschko, Alexander Povetkin, Johann Duhaupas, and Mairis Briedis.
