Fury has WWE issue costing him millions as bank balance hit hard
Tyson Fury’s WWE return is being hampered by his inability to enter the United States. WWE executives had been hoping to feature Fury at the 2023 Royal Rumble next month with an eye on a match at Wrestlemania 39 in April.
The deal would have reportedly made Fury ‘several million dollars’. However, with The Gypsy King banned from entering the US due to links to alleged Irish mobster Daniel Kinahan, those plans are expected to be put on hold.
Tyson’s younger brother Tommy had his long-awaited grudge match with Jake Paul cancelled for the same reason and confirmed two months ago that his family is still restricted from going stateside. It appears that remains the case in December according to reports from The Sun.
One insider told the publication: “Tyson is well loved at the WWE and him popping up in any match and a run to Wrestlemania would generate huge headlines and fan interest. However, his immigration status is proving tricky to deal with.
“It is not all bad news for Tyson, because there are other options for WWE through their premium live events outside of the US. It’s likely that they will go to Saudi Arabia twice a year for those bigger nights and of course, there are often European battles. But having a potential invite to feature in something special at Wrestlemania is a huge deal, and currently, those shows are only in the USA.”
Fury beat Braun Strowman in his WWE debut back in October 2019 and made a surprise appearance at the Clash of the Castle event in Cardiff, Wales earlier this year. The Mancunian recently confirmed that he would be open to continuing wrestling but remains focused on his professional boxing career.
Fury is set to face Oleksandr Usyk in the first undisputed heavyweight title fight of the four-belt era next. According to Usyk’s promoter, Alexander Krassyuk, the clash is being targeted for a date between February 18 and March 4 in the Middle East with Wembley Stadium mentioned as a backup option.
